Fluting the barrel removes weight without sacrificing rigidity and is believed to be an aid to cooling by increasing the barrels surface area. We can remove about .5lb to .75lb of barrel weight by fluting.
All barrel fluting is done in house on a precision milling machine to the customer’s specification. We can offer either six .219” wide flutes or ten .187” wide flutes typically finishing 1.25” from the muzzle. We have never seen any accuracy deteriation from a fluted barrel and all fluted barrels which we fit carry our usual accuracy guarantee. We are sorry but we can not offer an accuracy guarantee on any pre chambered and fitted barrels brought to us for fluting.
