All chambering is done on a Dean Smith and Grace lathe using the steady rest method. Barrels are held between an extremely accurate ( to within .0001”) six jaw chuck and a precision revolving centre for turning the tenon and threading. A steady rest is used to support the barrel for chambering and a continuous flow of neat cutting oil is passed from muzzle to chamber while chambering. This carries all swarf back out past the reamer and never allows any work hardened chips to enter and scratch the bore.
